Closed cell foam flotation and padded panels around the waist provide buoyancy and comfort. If the closed cell foam flotation panels are not needed, they can be easily removed. There are pouches for numerous items such as MAS pouches, smoke grenades, canteens, parachute flares, radios, etc. It doesn't interfere with backpacks or E&E gear.
